Hello everyone,
The Parks Advisory Board meeting was last Tuesday, and the Continental Village Park grant was discussed.
The Parks Advisory Board has submitted the grant application which was approved earlier this year. However, because the Town is the government entity overseeing the process, the State can only communicate directly with the Town regarding the grant.
Our Parks Supervisor, Fred Romer, has been trying to get updates from the Town about where the application stands, but according to the discussion at the meeting, he has not received much information. Fred also shared that Town officials expressed frustration about the number of emails they received from community members in June regarding the park project.
That tells me our voices are being heard. Now is not the time to stop. If this park is important to you, please take a few minutes this week to write a respectful email or letter to Town Supervisor John VanTassel and the Town Comptroller. Ask them for an update on the grant process and encourage them to continue moving the project forward. Every email reminds our Town leaders that this park matters to the people who live here.
If you would like to speak during public comment, the Philipstown Town Board typically meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month at Philipstown Town Hall, 238 Main Street, Cold Spring, NY 10516.
Thank you to everyone who has continued to advocate for our community. Working together and respectfully speaking up is one of the best ways we can help move this project forward.
